Bob’s 88th Birthday Party this Saturday.

The weather forecast looks good for Saturday. UPDATE: the forecast now suggests we might get rain later in the afternoon, so we need to start on time.

We’ve sorted out a mix of 40s, 50s and 60s music if anyone fancies a bit of a retro boogie. We could probably do with some more tables and chairs (garden furniture is fine). The road is closed for the afternoon to make it safe for everyone. Please move vehicles to the ends of the road for the afternoon. See you all at 2pm! He’s asked if people can take photos and videos that he can share.

Bob’s invited all his Elmfield neighbours. If you don’t know him yet, now’s your chance to meet him. Oh yeah, plus somehow Bob’s arranged for a fire engine to turn up for the afternoon. Something for the kids (and fans of firefighters) to enjoy.

Charity event on June 18th.

Handy local bike repairs and spares shop opening soon.

Plans for development of The Standard to go on show

Finally, our lost local live music venue is being developed after being left empty for so long now. Plans will go on display at drop in sessions at Gnome House between 4.30pm and 7.30pm on Monday, May 23 and Wednesday, May 25.

The idea of putting flats above or near the venue sounds like a recipe for disaster. This is the main reason many of our live music venues in London have been lost to us. Wonder what London’s new “Night Mayor” will make of that idea?

More info in the local press.

Road Closures Protest This Week.

While there are currently all sorts of comments and claims being made about the ‘mini holland’, what’s very clear is people are getting pretty fed up with the traffic gridlock at the moment. There’s a protest organised for Thursday 19th May (this thursday) at 6.15pm outside the town hall. You might want to walk or cycle, if you can.
