Planning Meeting May 15th 2011

Thanks to everyone who turned up for the latest planning meeting. Here’s a summary of what was discussed:-

The road closure paperwork still hasn’t been received from the council, so it was agreed to chase this up and get on with arranging the Public Liability Insurance. Insurance will be paid from funds raised last year.

Both the bands that were approached have confirmed they will play on the day. It was agreed we’d like to pay both bands for playing if we raise enough funds.

Rob agreed to arrange an on-going Boules tournament on the day.

Fundraising ideas were discussed. Everyone agreed Charmaine’s idea of a table top sale, held around a month before the party, sounded good.

There was some discussion about the idea of creating artwork on the day that might subsequently be used in the Art Trail, but it was difficult to justify using street party funding to pay the Art Trail registration fee. It was agreed to give this idea some more thought by the next meeting.

People are still collecting raffle prizes to help raise funds for the event.

The date and time for the next planning meeting was set for Sunday June 12th, 3pm, located on the grass outside the houses.
