We’ll be playing those tunes we’re too cool to admit we all secretly love, including “Mr Blue Sky”, “Crazy Horses”, “Mamma Mia”, “Rio”, “Let Your Love Flow”, “Jolene” and “I Feel Love”. If you haven’t told us your guilty pleasures yet, please pop them through the letterbox at number 39 (along with your name if you’re not too embarrassed!) or use the comments section of the website.

BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE DONATING RAFFLE PRIZES, BUYING RAFFLE TICKETS, BRINGING OUT FOOD AND DRINKS TO SHARE ON THE DAY.

If you can help set things up and put up street decorations on the day, meet on the green at 12 noon.

If the weather’s good why not bring out your garden chairs (and tables if you have them) onto the green to create a communal space to meet your neighbours, chat and eat?

The VERY LAST AND FINAL planning meeting will be held in the Coppermill on Monday July 13th July at 8PM.  EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO COME ALONG

Less than a month now …

Hey Elmfield Road,

It’s less than a month now until the street party. The weather’s looking promising and we’ve sorted out the marquee, PA system etc. Hope everyone’s worked out what they’re going to cook or bring along on the day.

I’ve put together about an hour of 40s swing music for a good old fashioned ‘tea dance’. (If you have Spotify you can review the playlist here.) If you want to practice your swing dancing here’s an online swing dance tutorial site, or you can learn the lindy hop here. Here’s some more ambitious swing dancing to learn from!

Also, don’t forget to let us know your guilty pleasures, you know – those tunes you really shouldn’t like. We’ll be doing a mix of all those on the day too.

Finally, if you have any prizes you can donate for the raffle please drop them off at number 9 or number 39.

See you all on Saturday July the 18th for a jumping, jiving party 🙂

Street Party Guilty Pleasures Mix

Hi folks,
Would anyone like to suggest any tunes to be included in a ‘guilty pleasures’ mix, where we share our love of – let’s face it – cheesy tunes? Here’s my collection  on Spotify: –

Leave you’re suggestions and I’ll try to do a mix of them all for the day.

STREET PARTY NEWS June 1st 2009.

The road will be officially closed to traffic on Saturday July 18th from lunchtime until midnight. Please move your car to the end of the street on Saturday morning. If you’re going to be away that weekend the people at number 9, 11 and 59 don’t mind you parking outside their houses.

There will be no charge for anyone who wants to attend the party. To help raise money for this and next year’s events we’ll be selling raffle tickets beforehand and on the day.

Clifford is organising a 24-foot long marquee this year. It’ll contain a stage (for the band, karaoke and DJ) as well as tables for everyone to share food and drink. Come rain or shine we’ll have a party! (Correction: The actual size of the canopy/marquee is 46′ x 24′)

The money collected from last years raffle is helping to pay for the event, including insurance and DJ hire, but won’t cover all costs. If you can donate prizes for the raffle to help pay for next year please drop them off with Paul at number 9 or David at number 39.

All residents and their friends are invited. Use the website to offer advice or look for suggestions from other residents on local hotels and B&Bs if you run out of space for your friends: https://elmfieldroad.wordpress.com/

If you have any more ideas for the party, or just fancy a pint, come to the next planning meeting: Sunday 28th June 6pm Coppermill Pub (beer garden if the weather’s nice).
